When Amazon Multi-Channel Fulfillment (MCF) ships a Shopify order in multiple shipments, it can be difficult to know which products have shipped, which products are still being processed, and where to find the tracking information.
ByteStand MCF Shipping helps keep you informed about split shipments directly within your Shopify orders. As Amazon ships portions of an order, ByteStand can add shipment updates and tracking information to the Shopify Order Timeline and Order Notes.
This is especially helpful for multi-unit orders and Virtual Bundles, where Amazon may fulfill the products in an order across multiple shipments.
Put the video here.
Amazon may split a multi-unit order into multiple shipments based on how it fulfills the order.
For example, products in the same Shopify order may be fulfilled from different Amazon fulfillment locations or become available for shipment at different times.
Amazon determines how an order is fulfilled based on its fulfillment network, and ByteStand cannot prevent Amazon from splitting an order into multiple shipments.
Instead, ByteStand provides as much shipment information as possible so you can understand what is happening with the order without immediately needing to log into Amazon Seller Central.

Split shipments can be especially important when you’re using Virtual Bundles in ByteStand.
A Virtual Bundle allows you to sell one product in Shopify while Amazon fulfills multiple underlying Amazon SKUs.
For example, a customer may purchase one bundle product in Shopify that contains several physical products.
Behind the scenes, Amazon may receive multiple SKUs for that order:
Amazon may then ship those products in separate packages.
The Shopify customer still sees one order, but Amazon may generate multiple shipments and tracking numbers.
ByteStand can provide shipment updates in the Shopify order so you can see what has shipped and the tracking information associated with each shipment.

Understanding these statuses can help you determine whether an order is simply still being processed or whether it requires additional troubleshooting.
When an order has been sent to Amazon but none of the products have not shipped yet:
Shopify: In Progress
ByteStand: Received by Amazon or Processing by Amazon
This means Amazon has accepted the fulfillment request, but the products have not been shipped yet.
At this stage, no action is typically required. The order is still being processed by Amazon.
If Amazon ships at least one item in an order while other items are still being processed:
Shopify: Shipped products show as Fulfilled with tracking information
ByteStand: Partially Shipped
Partially Shipped means Amazon has shipped at least one item in the order, but the entire order has not been completed yet.
The remaining products may still be processing and could ship in another package.
As additional portions of the order are shipped, ByteStand can add shipment updates and tracking information to the Shopify Order Timeline.

If a customer contacts you because they only received part of their order, check the Shopify Order Timeline for the latest shipment information before investigating further in Amazon Seller Central.
There is another status that requires more attention:
ByteStand: Partially Shipped Complete
Partially Shipped Complete means Amazon shipped part of the order, but the remaining items were unfulfillable or canceled.
This is different from a normal Partially Shipped order.
If an order is Partially Shipped, the remaining products may simply still be working their way through Amazon’s fulfillment process.
If an order is Partially Shipped Complete, the remaining products will not be fulfilled unless the underlying issue is resolved.
Important: If you see Partially Shipped Complete, review the order in Amazon Seller Central to determine why the remaining items were marked unfulfillable or canceled.
You may need to investigate the affected products or work with Amazon to resolve the issue.
ByteStand can add shipment updates and tracking information to the Shopify Order Timeline as Amazon ships portions of an order.
To review the shipment history:
This gives you a history of the shipment updates ByteStand has received from Amazon.

If Amazon ships an order in multiple shipments, the Order Timeline can contain multiple shipment updates.
This can help you answer questions such as:
ByteStand can also add shipment information to the Notes section of a Shopify order.
However, Shopify has a limitation here:
Shopify only allows one note in this section.
Because of this, the most recent tracking update is what will appear in the Order Notes section.

For the complete history of multiple shipment updates, we recommend checking the Order Timeline.
Amazon may create multiple shipments and tracking numbers for a single MCF order. However, Shopify has limitations on how tracking information can be displayed.
Shopify only allows one tracking number and carrier per shipment in its order tracking information.
Shopify also currently limits how tracking notifications are sent to customers.
Because of these Shopify limitations, the tracking information displayed in Shopify’s standard tracking fields may not represent every tracking number associated with a split Amazon shipment.
This is why the Shopify Order Timeline is especially useful for reviewing the shipment history.

If a customer contacts you because they received only part of their order, you can use the Shopify order to determine what happened before immediately going to Amazon Seller Central.
Find the order associated with the customer’s purchase.
Look for ByteStand shipment updates and tracking information.
Determine which portion of the order has already shipped and locate the tracking number associated with that shipment.
Look for:
Partially Shipped
or
Partially Shipped Complete
If the order is Partially Shipped, the remaining products may still be processing and could ship separately.
If the order is Partially Shipped Complete, review the order in Amazon Seller Central to determine why the remaining products were unfulfillable or canceled.
This information can help you respond to customer questions faster without immediately having to investigate the order in Amazon Seller Central.
You may want to investigate the order in Amazon Seller Central when:
If an order is simply Partially Shipped, the remaining products may still be processing. Check the Shopify Order Timeline for the latest shipment updates before assuming there is a problem.
