How to read the FreshCredit Export file

I’ve exported by customer data but what does this mean?

To quickly learn how to export your customers store credit data and how to read the FreshCredit Export data watch the video below.

Where is the data sent?

The customer data will be emailed to the email address associated with the Shopify store. You can identify the email address by opening Shopify > Settings > Store Details > Store Email. FreshCredit cannot edit what email address the file is sent to. It will be important for you to have access to that email address or to make edits to the email address directly in Shopify.

A Zipped file will be included in the email and the store will need to unzip the file and save the contents to your computer. You can then access the file through Excel or Google Sheets.

What does the file look like?

With the data you can see your customers email addresses, current credit balance, transaction type, order number, amount, transition date, and credit notes. All of this data is pulled directly from the FreshCredit app.

Column Definitions

  • Email – This is the customers email address associated with the store credit history. There will be multiple lines as each credit transaction for that email address is tracked and documented.
  • Current Credit Balance – This is the customers active store credit balance. Which can be cross-referenced in the FreshCredit app.
  • Transaction Type – Explains how the store credit was used.
    • increase – The store gave credit to the customer.
    • decrease – Store credit was used
    • set_to_zero – The store removed all credit from the account pressing the ‘set to zero’ button in the customers credit history.
    • complete_order – Store credit was used on a order and the order was marked as fulfilled in Shopify
    • expired – The store credit expired because the store had previously set a expiration date on the customers credit.
